Isosorbide-Based Thermoplastic Polyurethane with Different Polyols and Soft/Hard Ratios

چکیده
A series of isosorbide-based thermoplastic polyurethanes (ISB-TPUs) with different soft/hard ratios have been successfully step polymerized using individual two types polycaprolactone diol (PCL) or poly (tetramethylene glycol) (PTMG) for soft segment and bio-based isosorbide (ISB) methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) hard segment, based on the similar molecular weight. The effect structure mechanical thermal properties has evaluated in terms polyol, ranging from 6/4 to 9/1 ratio values. With increasing PCL content, ISB-TPU enhanced gradually. When range was 6/4, tensile strength achieved maximum value comparison that PTMG block. Elongation at break increased increase concentration, due superior interaction between ester groups urethane groups. obtained ISB-TPUs can be a promising resin soft, flexible, biocompatible application fields.

A new family of highly elastic polyurethanes (PUs) partially based on renewable isosorbide were prepared by reacting hexamethylene diisocyanate with a various ratios of isosorbide and polycarbonate diol 2000 (PCD) via a one-step bulk condensation polymerization without catalyst. The influence of the isorsorbide/PCD ratio on the properties of the PU was evaluated. The successful synthesis of the...
متن کاملMicrowave-assisted synthesis of isosorbide-derived diols for the preparation of thermally stable thermoplastic polyurethane
In order to prepare thermally stable isosorbide-derived thermoplastic polyurethane, the synthesis of two new chiral exo-exo configured diols, prepared from isosorbide, and two types of diphenols (bisphenol A and thiodiphenol) was described. The synthesis conditions were optimized under conventional heating and microwave irradiations. To prove their suitability in polymerization, these monomers ...
متن کاملPolyurethane Adhesives and Sealants Based on Hydrophobic Polyols
Thermosetting polyurethane polymers are staples of adhesive and sealant formulations used in a variety of industrial applications. Polyurethane materials generally provide reliable service under most application conditions, but the long-term performance and durability of some polyurethanes can be compromised by direct and prolonged contact with bulk water or high ambient humidity. The Dow Chemi...
متن کاملStress-Strain Behavior of Thermoplastic Polyurethane
The large strain nonlinear stress-strain behavior of thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) exhibits strong hysteresis, rate dependence and softening. Thermoplastic polyurethanes are copolymers composed of hard and soft segments. The hard and soft segments phase separate to form a microstructure of hard and soft domains typically on a length scale of a few tens of nanometers. Studies have revealed ...

It is difficult for scientists to engineer elastomeric materials that are both strong and tough like spider dragline silk. Inspired by the morphology of spider dragline silk and motivated to develop strong, tough, elastomeric polyurethanes to be used in soldier applications I have prepared polyurethane/clay nanocomposites. Polymer/clay nanocomposites have exhibited great potential for providing...
